Welcome to Adventure Centre for Education

The Adventure Centre for Education (ACE) is a community-led charity creating healthier people, stronger communities and a more connected relationship with nature. Through outdoor learning, adventure, Blue Health, environmental education and community development, we help people of all ages and backgrounds discover the confidence, resilience and wellbeing that comes from spending time in the natural world.

Based in South Ayrshire, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the physical, mental and social benefits of nature, regardless of age, ability, experience or circumstance. Whether we’re delivering outdoor learning for schools, improving community health through blue and green spaces, supporting local regeneration projects or creating opportunities for people to volunteer, train and develop new skills, our purpose remains the same – connecting people with place and helping communities thrive.

About ACE

Founded in 2005 by Chris Saunders, the Adventure Centre for Education (ACE) is an independent Scottish charity and company limited by guarantee. Our trading arm, Adventure Carrick, operates as a social enterprise, with every surplus reinvested into charitable programmes that benefit local people and communities.

Over the past two decades, ACE has grown from an outdoor education provider into a recognised community anchor organisation. Today our work spans outdoor adventure, education, health and wellbeing, Blue Health, environmental sustainability, active travel, community resilience and place-based regeneration.

We work alongside schools, community organisations, health partners, local authorities, businesses and funders to design and deliver projects that respond to local needs. From developing the South Ayrshire Snorkel Trail and Blue Health Hub to supporting community facilities, volunteering opportunities and environmental initiatives, we are committed to creating lasting social, environmental and economic impact across South Ayrshire and beyond.

#ACEDays

Every day is an opportunity to discover something new.

Our #ACEDays programme brings people together through inspiring outdoor experiences that improve health, wellbeing, confidence and connection with nature. Since 2005, we have worked with thousands of children, young people, families, community groups, businesses and visitors, creating memorable experiences that encourage people to challenge themselves, develop new skills and enjoy the outdoors safely.

We offer an extensive range of land and water-based activities including coasteering, snorkelling, stand-up paddleboarding, giant SUP, canoeing, kayaking, guided walks, cycling, bushcraft, climbing, abseiling, archery, axe throwing and environmental discovery sessions. Every activity is led by experienced instructors and can be tailored to meet the needs of schools, youth groups, community organisations, corporate teams and private groups.

Today, #ACEDays is about much more than adventure. It’s about improving physical and mental wellbeing, building stronger communities, inspiring environmental stewardship and helping people reconnect with the landscapes, coastlines and waterways that make South Ayrshire such a special place.

Working with more than 30 partners across education, health, environment and community development, ACE continues to grow its impact through innovative programmes including Blue Health, outdoor learning, community volunteering, biodiversity projects and sustainable tourism initiatives. Every booking helps us reinvest in our charitable work, ensuring more people can access the life-changing benefits of the outdoors.
