South Ayrshire Snorkel Trail

The Adventure Centre for Education (ACE) under our brand Adventure Carrick has taken the lead in developing the South Ayrshire Snorkel  Trail in collaboration with the Scottish Wildlife Trust, the national organisation spearheading trail development across Scotland.

The chosen snorkel sites

The selected trail sites encompass Lendalfoot, Girvan, Maidens, Culzean Country Park, Dunure, and Troon. Collaborative efforts have been invested in site selection, risk assessments, promotional material design, and other aspects of development.

We launched the completed trail at Maidens World Ocean Day Festival on Sunday, June 9th, during World Ocean Day weekend. The sites highlight South Ayrshire’s captivating seascapes and diverse underwater ecosystems. We aim to raise local and global awareness by showcasing the importance of what lies beneath the water’s surface. Our goal is to emphasize the need to preserve our seas for future generations. This initiative supports our Blue Health Hub and promotes the Blue Mind concept.

The Team that made it happen

We have worked with a wonderful team of partners to make this happen. This includes The Scottish Wildlife Trust, South Ayrshire Councils Destination South Ayrshire, Vincent from the The Outdoor Partnership Ayrshire, Michelle Shepherd from the National Trust for Scotland’s Culzean Country Park, the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere and Neil Smith from the Rubbish Paddlers.

Join us in expanding your horizons and contributing to the protection of our oceans. Don’t just spend your time looking out over the sea. See whats under the surface and realise what an amazing world there is there and help protect it from our human actions. We open peoples minds to the wonders that lie beneath the surface so they will care more about preserving this fragile environment.

This is a self led trail but at Adventure Carrick we do offer snorkel training and guided snorkel experiences with our qualified BSAC Snorkel Guides. These experiences are suitable for beginners and experiences alike. We are also able to cater for groups and can provided educational experiences for school groups of all ages.
