Ayrshire Hospice Blue Health Green Health Activities

Blue & Green Health Activities with Ayrshire Hospice

At Ayrshire Hospice, we understand the importance of nature in supporting well-being. That’s why we’re delighted to offer Blue Health & Green Health activities, designed to help individuals reconnect with the natural world and experience the benefits of outdoor-based well-being.

Funded through the Scottish Government’s Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund for Adults, this programme provides everyone with accessible outdoor experiences tailored to promote relaxation, connection, and resilience.

Whether it’s the calming effects of water through guided blue health sessions—such as mindful coastal walks, sea dipping, or gentle paddle sessions—or the restorative power of green spaces through forest bathing, nature walks, and sensory garden activities, these sessions are designed to enhance well-being in a supportive, inclusive way.

All activities are led by experienced outdoor practitioners from Adventure Carrick or our trusted partners, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and enriching experience for everyone involved.

For more details on upcoming sessions and how to get involved, please see below:

Open Canoeing
Enjoy the peace and beauty of our local waterways on a guided open canoe journey. This gentle activity is perfect for all ages and abilities, offering a calming experience on still or slow-moving water. Whether sharing a boat with a loved one or enjoying the rhythm of paddling, open canoeing offers a quiet space for reflection, connection, and a different view of the natural world.

Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP)
Our SUP sessions offer a light, fun way to experience the water and boost confidence. Led at a relaxed pace, they allow individuals and families to explore the coastline while standing or kneeling on wide, stable boards. It’s a great way to try something new, enjoy the moment, and take in the surroundings from a unique perspective.

Family Snorkelling
Discover the hidden world beneath the waves with our guided family snorkelling sessions. With full support and equipment provided, participants can safely explore shallow waters and rock pools, uncovering marine life and enjoying the simple wonder of the sea. It’s a shared experience full of smiles, curiosity, and gentle adventure.

Hike and Dip
Our hike and dip sessions combine a short, accessible walk with a refreshing (optional) wild dip. These outings are about joy and presence—breathing in fresh air, hearing the birds, feeling the water. They offer a chance to connect with nature, move at your own pace, and feel uplifted by the landscape.
